Guided Discoveries was founded in 1978 and is a non-profit outdoor experiential educational organization. We provide hands-on science learning experiences for public and independent schools, as well as traditional summer camp opportunities.
Schools may attend one of four programs. The Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) operates a marine biology and oceanography based program at Toyon Bay, Cherry Cove and Fox Landing. The Astrocamp school program is astronomy and physical science based and operates at our campus in Idyllwild, California.
We have taught over 500,000 students since 1978 and currently serve over 45,000 students each year. The success of our programs is due to the quality of our staff. Over the years, many employees have left their mark upon our programs through ideas and insights that improved the quality of instruction, food, facilities, and administration.
We look for employees who take pride in their work and are capable of thriving in a remote residential situation. The work can be hectic and difficult, but it is highly rewarding. Because the mountains and the ocean are such integral parts of the facilities, our employees often bring a love for the outdoors with them, or they quickly develop one. Guided Discoveries takes an environmentally conscious approach to operating our facilities and presents this philosophy to the students who participate in the programs.
If you can thrive in such an environment, we look forward to hearing from you. Information about specific job categories and contact information, as well as an employment application, are available in the links above.
